I'm the healthy mom

Tomorrow is halloween and the kiddo is having a party at her daycare. Most the parents are offering to bring pizza, juice, and candy for the kids but I opted to be the healthy mom and bring fruit.

Contents of fruit tray: Blueberries, raspberries, three different types of apple, kiwi, orange slices, pear, blackberries, and strawberries.

When monsters get stressed

Monsters eat Beef Ramen.

I'll admit I've stumbled a bit with my diet. I've had a very stressful afternoon because of a flubb in my financial aid. I won't go into much detail about it but it has caused a flurry of scrambling and a string of words I dare not repeat. I'm destressing with my favorite brand of beef ramen, Sapporo Ichiban, and a few extra servings of cola. I'll get back on my horse tomorrow and go meatless.

Little Monster Snacks

You can tell by this post that my banner and name was largely inspired by the lunch box above. It's my daughter's but I'll admit I like to use it too. What we have here is my little monster's snack bento for daycare. I mostly stick to fresh fruits, veggies, and organic yogurt or milk as her treat when I pack. The contents of the lunch box contains 1 organic horizon yo kids yogurt, 1 banana, and a small bento filled with apple rabbits, blackberries, and strawberries.

Ed Psych Bento

Most of my personal bentos happen only one to two nights a week, but mostly it occurs when I have my Educational Psychology class for my master's degree in teaching ( art ed to be exact). I really try to fill up on veggies and fruits while I'm in class and I'm lucky enough to get a decent break to eat during my three hour adventures while I'm there once a week.

Contents of Bento: Broccolli, Carrots, small side spinach salad with alfalfa sprouts, tuna sandwich (covered by hard boiled egg), bagel chips, strawberries, orange, Japanese custard treat, and organic garlic ranch dressing.

A food confessional

This is the food musings, confessional, thoughts, and random bento making blog of one Mommy Monster aka Katie. I have seen the best and worst of food as a mother, student, and a teacher in the public school system. My diet used to be at the whim of whatever I could find and filled with lots of caffeine and pure junk. It was only within the last year that my diet and body came at odds and I had to make a choice between my sanity and health or not being in a good place.
